Grassroots Grants

The Community Council of Shropshire has been selected to manage the Grassroots Grants Programme for Shropshire. The focus of the funding is to help small voluntary and community groups to grow and become more sustainable.

Grassroots is funded by the Office of the Third Sector via the Community Development Foundation. As the local funder for Shropshire the Community Council of Shropshire will be making grants available from 2008 - 2011.

Grants of between £250 - £5000 are available to small grassroots community and voluntary groups in Shropshire. To be eligible groups must have been in existence for 12 months and have an income of less than £30,000 per year.

The Gift That Keeps On Giving!

To ensure that the grants remain available for many years to come, an innovative fundraising challenge has been established.  The Community Council of Shropshire has been set with the challenge of setting up a Shropshire Grassroots Fund.  Until March 2011 the Government will match pound for pound any money raised up to £298,000 making a total of £596,000 - the interest from which will be spent on projects in Shropshire for many years to come.

Tax-Effective Giving

As well as donations being doubled, if you are a tax paying individual your donation can be Gift-Aided. For example if you gave a donation of £10 with Gift Aid (28%)  your donation will be £12.80 which will doubled to become £25.60!
