The Community Council of Shropshire (CCS) is an independent organisation established in November 1960 and operational from 1st April 1961.
CCS is one of 38 Rural Community Councils operating throughout England and is funded by the Government, Shropshire County Council and membership subscription. Additional support for project work comes from Shropshire County Council, Local District Councils, Charitable Trusts and donations.
CCS is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee.
In 2005/06 CCS income exceeded £1 million. We employ almost 40 paid staff and more than 40 volunteers to deliver a wide range of services and projects.
A Board of Directors is responsible for strategic management of the organisation. Members are elected at the AGM and the Board meets quarterly. There are a number of sub-committees with responsibilities for matters such as:
- Finance
- Quality
- Health and Safety
- Human Resources
The three core values of CCS enable us to achieve our vision of supporting people and achieving change in Shropshire. These values are:
- Partnership
- Reliability
- Innovation
